From 23rd February to 1st March we went on a trip to Hong Kong. This trip was a milestone in many ways. It was the furthest that we have gone with our two young kids and also the first trip since we decided not to hire a domestic helper anymore. The kids' favourite Uncle E also came with us, which made it really enjoyable for everyone.

Overall it was a good trip and ranks highly in our list of trips. I have made some notes below so I can remember what happened.

Day 1 (Sunday)

Started off with a late morning in Changi Airport T2, tried the Mahabara lounge which has not bad food and was not too crowded, it's one long corridor and we had seats right next to the food. Had baby chairs too.

Zach cried a lot on the flight to HK. H was good because she was engrossed with food and movies (I think) and sitting with E. When we reached, we had to spend some time waiting for the Klook driver as he was late and also the Pret he asked us to wait at had closed down.

Nice bracing cool air once we exited the airport! Very pleasant temperature.

Dinner was quick one at the Chinese restaurant at Cordis hotel. H made a bit of fuss and Z was tired too, he also wet his pants cos it was too long from last diaper change.

Everyone was tired so slept quite fast.

Day 2 (Monday)

Nice buffet breakfast at Cordis.

In the morning, we went to Legoland and Z and H took turns to nap in the stroller after that. Legoland was quite small, but ok, as there was a ride and a small indoor playground. Went to Jasmine Causeway Bay for dim sum lunch. Went hunting for pharmacy - found Watsons while carrying Z. There was a Marks and Spencer food and we had dinner - I think it was just reheated from frozen (pastas and the like).

We bought M&S mini bread sticks, which the kids really liked.

Day 3 (Tuesday)

We went to find this place selling cookies called "Butter" (turned out that there was an outlet at the Peak too, which we didn't know beforehand). Then we went to this squeezy Cha Chan Teng, the famous Lan Fong Yuen for brunch. It was a hole in the wall, like a small coffee shop where we had to share the table with other customers. Quite challenging with small children, I had to balance Z on my lap and try and feed him a pork sandwich messily by hand. We also had some (instant?) noodles and I think we had a condensed milk toast?

Went to the Peak in a pink Tesla (Uber). First time ever in a Tesla. The big screen with the image of the roads cars and pedestrians looked cool. Went to see the scenery in this good-sized shopping mall (had a nice baby/nursing room) - could have eaten here too but we didn't. Bought an expensive lemonade then took the tram down but Z was sleeping.

Dinner was wonton noodles at yet another hole in the wall place, but it was less crowded than Lan Fong Yuen.

Day 4 (Wednesday)

Had the hotel breakfast again. This was the day we checked in to Disneyland Hotel, had lunch there in Walt's Cafe. Relax in hotel (kids napped) until dinner at Chinese restaurant there.

We didn't actually do much on this day, no surprise by now, but with kids, a lot of time can pass without anything being done. Most of the time was just spent in transit (took a Uber to Disneyland which is on the same island as the airport), doing check-in, waiting for kids to wake from their naps etc. But it's just as well because our Disneyland tickets only started the next day.

Day 5 (Thursday) - Disneyland Day 1

Breakfast was at the Disney explorer lodge, you can take a shuttle bus to it. There are like three hotels all near to each other, you could take turns eating at each, but basically the explorer lodge and Disneyland hotel (where we stayed) were our haunts.

We did some Marvel rides. There was an Iron Man 4D ride. High production value.

Lunch was at very crowded "royal banquet hall".

Did a Winnie the Pooh Ride, then Dumbo ride.

Ice cream with slushy while walking to It's a Small Small World (closed)

Dinner buffet at explorer lodge - too much food and Z made fuss so had to carry him out.

Night fireworks. Z was asleep and H half asleep. Didn't recognize most of the songs.

Day 6 (Friday) - Disneyland Day 2

Breakfast at Walt's Cafe

Frozen ride and lunch at Frozen area. Frozen ride had a small but sudden drop, H liked it. We took it two times (second time at night before it closed) and saw a "Princess Elsa" outside.

Railway train ride

Teacup rides

H ate popcorn

Mickey show - Mickey and Goofy spoke Cantonese!

Day 7 (Saturday) - back to SG!

Breakfast at Walt's Cafe again. The buffet breakfast (very expensive) was fully booked and also has inconvenient timings (2 sittings, 7.30 to 9, and 9 to 10.30).

Z can't sleep in bassinet as we discovered on flight there. On flight back he slept much better while being held.

I think we caught something from a sneezing man next to us on the plane. Z is still sick after some on and off fever - it's already our second week back. I had a bout of pretty bad diarrhea last week.
