Had a pretty exhausting long weekend.
Saturday - Finally, it was Z's baptism! He was dancing/running around the auditorium alternating with some crying (had to bring him out here and there), but at least, when the time came, he was relatively OK and was more or less standing still. Praise the Lord, he also did his dancing during the worship songs, I thought whether to stop him but I thought it was still "appropriate". Went for Pizza Express lunch because of the free kids' meal. Then we went to pick up M's birthday cake at the Tanjong Pagar area.
Sunday - H had her morning chinese class, followed by M's birthday lunch. A lot of walking of Z who couldn't sit still as usual. After that, we went to Metro to buy a new King Koil foldable mattress for H's staycation at her grandparents (feels pretty solid, it's a super single size).
Monday - for half a day we had Z to ourselves because H was at grandparents. Brought her back after late lunch for her nap. Then had to drive Z out as he couldn't nap that well. I suppose the one thing in common for all three days, was that the kids' naps were not as good. I would say the 3-4pm mark was the toughest for me because by then I was usually very tired (like dozing off once I sat down).
Tuesday - did a short period of solo parenting because M had to attend a wake. Actually, it was not too bad because Z went to bed early, so it was just handling H.
I wanted to write about this in more detail and will come around to doing it soon, but basically, it has been more than one month since we decided to do away with having a helper. The TLDR: It has not been easy, but it has been better than I thought, and I feel like we have really levelled up. I recall the days when I would be very afraid of just minding H alone. Now, minding H alone is like, totally cool. Anyway, will try and write more when I have time.
